Type Hike — Olympic National Park

This image is a slice of my postcard design for Type Hike, a fun typographic celebration of National Parks Service centennial.

I had the opportunity to on Olympic National Park, a spot that I have been researching and I will be making a trip to next year.

My approach was a fun tribute to classic americana landscape posters in a loose hand drawn + vector illustration style. This design takes a view through a hole in one of their many rock formations on the pacific coast. As you look through you see the three ecosystems: Temperate Rainforest, Sub-Alpine forest and the more rugged portion of the Pacific Coast.

These will be printed as post cards, but I am also hoping to turn the design into silkscreen posters as well.
