Dabba Art Work

This artwork is to honour the committed group of "dabbawallas". Dabba = tiffin, container; Walla = worker.

The dabbawalla system is a unique solution in which dabbas are often carried overhead on large metal trays containing lovingly prepared home cooked meal. Each tiffin is picked up at the client’s home, delivered to his office, and then returned, a trip during which it will typically pass through the hands of at least 12 dabbawallas across an elaborate zoning system & in all this having to board urban trains which only stop briefly in a mega-city like Mumbai.
