View from my sketchbook

Sketching plays a really big part in my design process and I wanted to give an authentic look at what that looks like for me, rather than a hyper-stylized drawing.

My sketches aren't super pretty; for me it's about quickly getting ideas on paper, and taking time to measure perfect lines and shade everything looks nice but defeats the purpose.

I use sketching to think through concepts, ideas, layouts, and anything else. It gives me a place to dump all of my thoughts and try to work through problems. That's why you'll usually see more writing than actual sketching - I'm jotting down thoughts and notes in addition to actual design ideas.

I usually don't spend very much time refining designs on paper. Again, because of the speed. As soon as I start to have an idea of what the solution looks like, I start wireframing or designing in Sketch to work out some of the more subtle nuances.
