The Lady of Steamlot
The Lady of Steamlot is a steampunk or "retrofuturistic" take of the legend of the Lady of Shallot, made famous by the beautiful ballad by Lord Alfred Tennyson (the legend is part of the Matter of Britain).
The Lady lives in her solitary tower near a river, away from everything and everybody. A magical mirror is her only window on the outside world and a curse compels her to weave all the stories and tales she's not able to live herself. She's convinced, though, that life is not much worth living, as so many horrible things plague the world.
On the other side of the river lies the bustling industrial town of Steamlot, filled with all kinds of automatons and machines. The polluted and alienating city is a confirmation of the Lady's thoughts, keeping her detached and alone.
But beautiful stories are hidden in plain sight if only you're willing to look and this book will take you on a journey to discover what life is all about.
Written by Matteo Micci, the Lady of Steamlot is a riveting and emotional story about the beauty of life and the courage it takes to embrace it as a whole.
