51house

The 51 House is a new restaurant in Edenton, NC. The name pays homage to historical local activist, Penelope Barker. In 1774, Mrs. Barker organized a boycott of British goods. She and 50 other women signed a petition against the British, known as The Edenton Tea Party.
The owner wanted the logo to be reminiscent of the era. I researched design of the era searching for trends to draw from. The design reflects common design themes used by merchants in the 1770's.
