During the Vietnam War, the Seiko Diver 6105 watches became extremely popular amongst American soldiers, as portrayed in the film Apocalypse Now directed by Francis Ford Coppola in 1979.

The Vietnam War plot follows U.S. Army Captain and special operations Benjamin K. Willard, who wears the Seiko Diver 6105 on his search for Green Beret Colonel Walter Kurtz.
