The site is built on WordPress even though we are not tapping into many WordPress features at the moment. But planning for expansion of pages, blog addition, targeted landing pages, etc is always a good idea.

Depending on the client and project needs we typically have two strategies; 1. Build a front-facing marketing site with an easy-to-use tool like WordPress, then build the App portion with a more robust development platform (in this case Ruby on Rails), or 2. Build the full front-facing and app as one entity (Ruby on Rails is our go-to if it makes sense). The first is useful if there is a clear distinction between the front-facing site and application site (like if the application portion is gated to paying users), and the second makes sense if there is no distinction between the two and content is shared throughout the experience.
