The Writing's on the Wall

I was invited to contribute for a group exhibition at the Toowoomba Regional Art Gallery entitled Ins and Outs which runs coinciding with First Coat Art and Music Festival. I wanted to explore the idea of impermanence, or nothing lasts forever as graffiti comes and goes either by people tagging over things or just age. I researched the phrase "the writing's on the wall" which came from the Belthazar's Feast tale in the bible about an arrogant king whose days are numbered and as a reminder a message was miraculously inscribed on the wall. So I designed an elaborate piece which was animated by my good friend Armand Pranoto from www.ruang-sempurna.com to appear and reappear as it was projected in the gallery space.
