Short Story 005: A Revision Manifesto

Ahhh Revisions. Where would we be without them? Some would say they are the necessary evil to the design industry. Some could argue otherwise.

Revision requests are often a blurred line within client-based design and everyone handles them differently. Since there is no rulebook to handling client’s expectations and needs we are trying to find what works best for us with our clients and continue growing and fostering great relationships with the people and businesses we design for.

With that said today marks a massive day of change for us as a team. We’ve been exploring this for close to 2 years now and as of today we will completely stop offering revisions that do not improve project results. Today we are implementing our Ideas Over Revisions Strategy with our clients.

We firmly believe that guiding clients to think in terms of project results and guide them to ask themselves ‘Will this revision request better a user’s experience with my business?’; to get them deeper involved in the design process and start thinking like their customers.

We know it’s a risky position but it’s one we believe in. The foundation of Forefathers was built on taking big risks to get to where we want to be in this industry. It’s important to us to keep taking big risks to continue growing and learning and most of all pushing the boundaries of ourselves to get our best results.

So let’s put on our ‘progressive-thinking’ hats and head to the core of our intentions with our Ideas Over Revisions Strategy.
