Presents
I'm TERRIBLE at giving gifts. I always want them to be really personal. So, months beforehand, I start looking. I have such high expectations that nothing ever feels 'just right' so I end up waiting until the last minute and coming up short.
I've started making a point to note when a friend or family member talks about a product/hobby/place they like so that I can reference it later when giving them a gift. The problem is, those notes end up in random places – in my Evernote, my Reminders, my email, even pen and paper.
I've been playing with this idea for a while. It's an app that helps you keep track of these sorts of things so that when it comes time to give someone a gift, you have everything in one place.
We have things like Pinterest and Amazon Wish List – things that make it easy to get people exactly what they want. But, I think this idea has a little more heart. Have you ever given someone a gift that they weren’t expecting, something that made them understand just how well you knew them? It’s SUCH a good feeling. The same goes for receiving this kind of gift.
Presents lets me sort of build a little private persona for the people that I love. It’s like UX research for gift giving!
What do you guys think?
