Divine Lorraine T-Shirt Design
A couple color options that I provided of a Divine Lorraine t-shirt for Shibe Vintage Sports in Philadelphia, PA.
Designed by eccentric Philadelphia architect Willis G. Hale, the Divine Lorraine was built as luxury apartments starting in 1892, and had it's opening in 1894. In less than a decade, it was recommissioned as the Divine Hotel, and was one of the finest hotels in Philadelphia in the early 20th century.
It was a spectacular and opulent hotel until it ran up against the Great Depression. In 1948, the building was sold to Reverend Major Jealous Divine, founder of the International Peace Mission Movement. The Movement did not allow drinking, smoking, or sharing quarters with the opposite sex. But they did offer racially integrated quarters, which was unheard of at the time, the first large hotel to be racially integrated.
