Coatbridge Capital

This is the finalized logo for hedge fund, Coatbridge Capital. This is my second time working with a company in finance and it's interesting how they both chose to be perceived the same same way: they want to look like they've been around for a hundred years (like a trustworthy bank), but at the same time feel modern and ready for Silicon Valley—It's definitely a old meets new where it's difficult not go over-the-top in either way.

The source of inspiration I took for the logo is luxury cars like Mercedes Benz: a serif typeface (Garamond Pro) with a iconic, standalone icon.

Personally, I didn't think the shield was necessary to create the latter, but Coatbridge is named after a town in Scotland that has it's own Coat of Arms—an association between the two was very important for my client.

Attached is closeup and shieldless version.
