D-bot

Here's something bit different I made recently. The development team of Vaadin Designer – our visual design tool for Vaadin applications – approached me with an idea. They had noticed that the UX and tone of voice of the tool could be improved in certain situations, and a great way to communicate the tone could be some kind of a character with personality.

It had been a while since my last time doing illustrations, so I was very excited about the opportunity. I grabbed a pencil and paper, and started doodling character sketches right away. The best of the bunch – a geeky, mechanical person called D-bot – was then finished in Illustrator.

I hope D-bot makes lots of new robot friends in Dribbble!
