Just finished the set of icons I need for the World Showcase section in Magic Passport!

This was really tough. Many of my first thoughts played right into stereotypes. And while some are still appropriate (Maple Leaf), some icons could be improved by focusing on nature, culture, or architecture.

For Mexico, Italy, Japan, Morocco, and France, I focused on elements found in their respective pavilions.

For Norway, China, Germany, America, the UK, and Canada, I used a symbol to associate with that country or land based on nature or culture.

The most difficult ones were Germany and Italy. While my first impressions were to use a beer stein for Germany, I thought that focusing on food and beverage wasn't appropriate given that Magic Passport contains a list of those things. For Italy, the obvious things around architecture like the Coliseum or Tower of Pisa aren't present in Italy's pavilion, so it felt off. St. Mark's Campanile was an option but perhaps could be misunderstood for other countries. Doge's Palace, however, featured what I consider to be uniquely-shaped archways that are distinctly Italian.

I may revisit these before we launch, but I think at the moment, I'm quite satisfied with them!
