Tonal Mark
Tonal is a brand-new music app, launching in late 2016.
The client commissioned me to design the brand identity, write a tagline, and design the web app's UI.
More than any other art form, music captures the full range of human emotion: joy and sorrow, lulls and crescendi. It speaks to us at a visceral level that transcends words and bridges cultures. Every single person on the entire planet speaks the language of music. We realized that Tonal’s brand identity should therefore be built upon a symbol that does not rely on the English language, the Latin alphabet, or idioms that are peculiar to any one culture. It needed to be universally recognizable. Plus, this mark is just begging to be animated!
