Travel Map Visualization

Travel map (zoom-in version next page). Attributes concerned are recency and distance from hometown, both are 1-dimensional and linear which allows quite some flexibility in terms of the form.

Through the visualization I want to not only show the data, but also reflect on traveling itself which, after all, embodies the connection between the traveler and home, the destinations and the starting point, not unlike the leaf and root analogy often seen in traditional Chinese literacy.
