Thingiverse: The Revolutionary Case of the MakerBot

Only in very rare case – in our case, one – can we truly say a product is revolutionary. But in MakerBot's case, it was: the brand single-handedly kicked off the 3D-printing industry and impressively, a 3D scanner to compliment its line printers.

But what MakerBot did that most impressed us – perhaps because, you know, we designed it – was created a gathering place for a growing community of fans aficionados. In doing so, they created a place where the potential of the industry soared even greater, as the fans were not only able to communicate, but they were able to share, favorite, and, of course, print entirely new products.
