Geometry Rings

I saw @sasj's Geometric Animations and just had to rebound it.

When I see optical illusions, my brain is immediately excited, and then I usually want to build it myself to fully understand it. While this one wasn't terribly complex, that is what fascinated me about it. It's so simple. Of course, once I was done, I had to put my own spin on it. It felt right because the animation is already so trippy.

Built in Illustrator, animated in After Effects, lovingly gif'd in Photoshop, and reduced in Compressor.io, and finally brought to you all here. By the way, I'm always happy to hear feedback. Especially with regard to my workflow. If anyone has a better process for taking their creations and gif'ing them, I am all ears!
