French Countryside
My grandmother was born in a small town in southwestern France called Grignols. She and her family lived on a farm and did all the things you'd imagine French farm people to do like smashing grapes with their feet and enjoying the little things like dancing and exploring the countryside. She witnessed the invasion of German soldiers there as well, raiding homes and patrolling streets when she had to go to the market for food. But despite that she's one of the happiest people I know.
I've asked her all about her life growing up there but it wasn't until recently that we looked on Google Maps together to get a better picture of Grignols. Somehow someway we ended up discovering her original farm house, silo next to it and everything. There's no street view for it but she gave me such a vivid memory of the place. With her birthday having just come by I wanted to give her a piece of art that represented life back then, even if it wasn't the literal vision of what it was. I'm getting this printed right now since I'll see her this weekend, hoping she enjoys this!
