Two years ago I bought my first camera with the money that my poppop left me when he died. For some reason I felt like it was something he would have wanted me to do — use it to help people tell their stories. So I bought a used Canon 5D Mark ii and a 50mm f/1.4 without any idea what I was doing. Since then I've been learning how to use the damned thing — reading whatever books and blogs that I found. Snapping pictures of everything (and probably annoying my family in the process).
