NASA APOD Concept

NASA Astronomy Picture of the Day (APOD) concept, using the current iteration of my "NASA Modern Style Guide" I've been putting together over the past few months. I'll be providing a full picture of the concept on my portfolio site and updating the shot with a link to it when the case study is completed. (EDIT: Here it is! http://www.taylorpaschal.com/2016/03/21/nasa-website-concept-web-design/)

APOD is a site that provides a daily space-themed image and description by Robert Nemiroff and Jerry Bonnell, and overseen by a NASA official. The current site is utterly devoid of any styling related to NASA, despite their connection. After working on the NASA Homepage Concept, I took a stab at APOD's website too, so I could see how it'd mesh with the NASA Modern Style Guide I've been putting together.

I think the end result speaks for itself - the overall visual quality has improved tremendously and the layout of the description should provide better readability. Beneath the description are two block images, the left always being the "Previous" day's image, and the right one being the "Next" or "Tomorrow's teaser" image (if it hasn't been released yet, it'll appear blurred, so viewers will get only a taste of the image until the following day).
