Realizat în România / Made in Romania
Well, what’s this, what is Romania? :)
Hello dribbble-lers,
Romania is beautiful country, located in (central) Europe, known for the Carpathian mountains, Transylvania and Vlad :). Our economy is predominantly based on services and we’re a producer and net exporter of machines and electric energy, featuring companies like Automobile Dacia and OMV Petrom, just to name a few. If you want to learn a bit more check out the Wiki.
The logo you see above, is the result of a little project I started working on because of a personal necessity. While looking to make a physical product, here in Romania, I wanted to have some sort of a logo/symbol that would represent it’s origins and quality of manufacturing to it’s audience.
I’ve looked for a similar logo/symbol but I haven’t found a satisfying solution, so I decided to give it a try and design it. I kew I wanted a symbol that would work as a mono-color shape—which would make it more versatile to use both on screen and in print. The inspiration came from the Endless Column by Constantin Brancusi. The mark is basically a stylized representation of the column on a simple clean background, crossed by a beam of light.
The website/service came as a realization that other people might want to use something like this to show where their products or services are made—even partially. This entailed designing a multitude of logos for these use cases: made, handmade, assembled and outsourced work. All logos are bi-lingual—romanian and english.
The logo is free to download and use and I’d love if you’d send an email with a link or any content with your product or service as I’d really like to know where you’re using Made in Romania.
There are some small quirks with the website I’m looking to fix, but if you see anything in peculiar, I’d appreciate an email to let me know about it.
There’s also a Twitter account for Made in Romania (called realizatromania) and also my own, where you can follow for updates. You can also just send an email to say hi :)
PS: there are some goodies in the archive, download and check them out :)
PS2: the download button is made using @drewwilson's atvimg. Check it out on GitHub. More info about the tech specs will be made available on site as soon as I get the Colophon page ready.
