Southern Maryland Foot & Ankle Website Redesign (casestudy)
A Step in the Right Direction: Revamping Southern Maryland Foot & Ankle’s Website
As both the designer and developer for the Southern Maryland Foot & Ankle website redesign, my goal was to transform their outdated site into a modern, user friendly experience while ensuring it aligned with their existing branding. While I didn’t create their branding, I focused on leveraging their brand assets more effectively to enhance usability and visual appeal.
The redesign prioritized accessibility, clarity, and ease of navigation, especially for the clinic’s older patient demographic. I implemented large, legible fonts, high contrast for readability, and a clean, structured layout to improve user experience. The site was also carefully tailored to avoid feeling like a typical medical website while maintaining a professional, welcoming aesthetic, friendly experience.
Key Considerations & Challenges:
Accessibility-first design – Large fonts, high contrast, and minimal animations for an easy-to-read and navigate experience.
Brand consistency – Incorporating the clinic’s existing branding more effectively without rebranding.
Authenticity in visuals – Selecting images that reflect real patient-doctor interactions while avoiding stock imagery that felt disingenuous.
Client feedback integration – Adjusting content, business hours, and interactive elements based on client preferences.
Functionality & navigation – Ensuring key information (contact details, services, social links) was prominent and easily accessible.
The final result? A sleek, modern website that meets the needs of both the client and their patients, proving that great design isn’t just about flashy aesthetics, but about creating a seamless, user friendly experience.
