UX Writing for In App Notification
Hello Luminaries β¨
Lets check my process to create a UX copy for in app notification in one of my company's product, Harmonie.
Harmonie is an integrated management system that help a company to managed their management system certification in one platform. This application has four module and each module has their own role to interact with the system.
The Challenge
The main challenge to this project is to make sure every user has their targeted notification, based on their action. Each notification should help the user doing next action, not just a common text about update from the data. The notification needed consist of a notification for: Central app (tarnsactional app for saas system), Risk management module, Audit module.
The Process
Before deciding the copy for the text, at first I tried to understand who is the user? Not only their role in the app, but also the personas of the user that will be used this app. Here's the persona I got from the brainstorming process with my team. This persona is defined by collecting our client user information in latest project.
Persona
A professional worker with daily work from 9-5 that already have a good computer literacy (daily works using internal company application).
Pain: They don't know what to do next and where to go.
Based on the persona, I'm using the process status and flow to make sure about what process will be passed by each user role. By all the process, here's what I did before create the copy:
1. Understanding the context
2. Learning about the persona
3. Learning the process flow
4. Create a copy
5. Test a copy with team mates
6. Launch the copy
The Result
From the flow above, I listed all needed notification from each phase and made a copy for it.
Outcome
From the research and writing process, I got the conclusion that rather than only use a one line notification, it will be easier for the user to understand the context of the notification by adding some information. It will lead them to do next action immediately and cut the delay.
