NATURBASEN APPLICATION
The task
During the course "Advanced Design Processes" we were asked to redesign a product or service. And my group and I agreed on redesigning the platform "Naturbasen" (https://www.naturbasen.dk/).
Our goal was to make it more accessible for a wider user group while also adding value for the end user, ultimately encouraging them to contribute data and participate in science.
Our final prototype featured two main modes—home and outside—to ensure the application enhanced rather than disrupted the nature experience, providing knowledge that helps people better understand and care for their surroundings.
In the home mode, users can collect and showcase their discoveries through various gamified features. For instance, the mushroom collection is displayed in the upper-left area, while a private island on the right serves as an animated playground where findings can be placed. Additionally, users can quiz themselves and learn about different species and landscapes, with content tailored to their level of expertise.
The outdoor mode is simpler, using darker natural colors that blend seamlessly with the environment and enhance the user’s outdoor experience. When active, only basic functions are available.
