Nexus Mall – Sustainability Web App

Case Study

Overview

Nexus Mall aimed to promote sustainability and encourage environmental responsibility among its visitors. The goal was to create an engaging web app where users could download an ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) report, and in return, the mall would plant trees on their behalf.

Problem Statement

Many ESG initiatives struggle to drive user engagement, as sustainability efforts often lack an interactive and rewarding experience. Nexus Mall wanted to bridge this gap by creating an incentive-driven approach that not only increased ESG report downloads but also actively contributed to environmental conservation.

Solution

I designed a visually engaging and user-friendly web app that seamlessly integrated the ESG report download process with an interactive tree-planting initiative.

🔹 Features & Functionality:

  • ESG Report Download Form: Visitors could download the ESG report, and in return, five trees would be planted on their behalf.

  • Plant Selection: Users could choose from four different tree species to be planted.

  • Gifting Option: Users could dedicate a tree to someone else, making sustainability a shareable experience.

  • Personalized Nameplate: Every planted tree was tagged with a nameplate bearing the user's or the recipient's name.

  • Admin Dashboard: A backend dashboard was designed to track user submissions, manage tree-planting records, and analyze participation trends.

Impact & Client Feedback

Enhanced User Engagement – The interactive approach encouraged more users to engage with Nexus Mall’s sustainability initiative. ✅ Strengthened ESG Commitment – The mall successfully reinforced its eco-friendly vision by tying digital interactions to real-world impact. ✅ Client’s Reaction – The presentation of the web app to Nexus Mall’s team had an immediate "Wow, that's amazing!" reaction, highlighting the success of the user experience and visual appeal.

Key Learnings

  • Gamifying sustainability can significantly boost user participation in environmental initiatives.

  • Seamless UX and intuitive UI drive higher engagement, even for corporate ESG initiatives.

  • Emotional connection through personalization (like nameplates on trees) enhances user involvement.
