The Vision Behind TailFin Becoming a Reality.
The journey began with the concept of simplicity and clarity. I opted for a minimalist approach, using a clean, modern sans-serif font to communicate precision and innovation. This choice ensured that the brand name itself would be clear and accessible, reflecting the company’s forward-thinking ethos.
Drawing inspiration from the ocean, the turquoise color palette was a natural choice. It evokes a sense of calmness and depth, and is universally associated with the sea. This choice not only grounds the brand in its marine research roots but also makes the visual identity refreshing and inviting.
The centerpiece of TailFin’s logo is the stylized tail fin, which doubles as both the letter ‘i’ in the name and as a standalone symbol. This design decision was pivotal—it’s a nod to the fish that are central to TailFin’s research and creates a memorable icon that encapsulates the essence of the brand. The curve of the tail fin symbolizes movement and fluidity, resonating with the dynamic nature of the ocean.
For the branding materials, I maintained a clean layout with plenty of white space, allowing the content and the logo itself to breathe. This design strategy ensures that the focus is squarely on the key messages and enhances readability, crucial for engaging both the scientific community and potential investors.
