Doku - Documentary Streaming Platform
Project Overview
Doku is a dedicated documentary streaming platform, offering high-quality, curated films. It caters to audiences passionate about education, history, and storytelling.
Problem Statement
Mainstream streaming services often lack a focused platform dedicated to documentary lovers. Doku was designed to offer an immersive, curated experience tailored specifically for non-fiction storytelling.
Research & Strategy
User studies focused on educational and documentary content preferences. A competitive analysis of Netflix, CuriosityStream, and PBS provided valuable insights into content discovery and engagement strategies.
Wireframing & Prototyping
Intuitive search and category filtering were prioritized in the early design phase. Usability tests ensured smooth navigation and a well-structured interface.
UI Design & Development
A dark theme was implemented to create a cinematic atmosphere, complemented by elegant typography for clarity. Personalized watchlists, interactive categories, and AI-driven content recommendations were key design elements.
Final Implementation
A seamless playback experience was developed for cross-device accessibility. A user-friendly content categorization system ensured effortless content discovery.
Results & Impact
User engagement increased significantly, with longer watch times reported. A well-structured content library and curated recommendations led to a growth in subscriptions and user retention.
Reflection & Learnings
Personalization and curation proved to be critical for engagement. Enhancing navigation and accessibility resulted in higher user satisfaction and retention rates.
