St. Georgia and the Serpent

A Hitchhiker's Guide to Art History

Mid 2024 I was invited to return to a Nova & Mali anthology project, this time themed after historic pre 1500's art pieces re-imagined with a sci-fi twist. The goal was to explore diversity and the sci-fi pulpy genre of old. So, for this project, I decided to re-imagine the classic St. George and the Dragon by Raphael.

The fun with this particular piece is the way the same artwork had been re-imagined almost as an ongoing art trend throughout history where the subject matter remained the same, the general composition remained the same, but the art was unique and a retelling of the same classic story.

What better, then, to re-imagine St. George and the Dragon but in space, and the knight was a (space) girl defending a maiden?
