“The ocean loves all”

I had the great honor to design a special pride edition for the REEF sandal with the theme The ocean loves all! If you’d ask me a year ago what my dream job would be I would probably respond with: a combination of my love for the ocean, illustration and queer pride. I have created two different sandals, one is a ”good” day, one is a “bad” day. 

In the ocean I get to push my boundaries, I overcome my fears. The sea always reflects my mental state, I cannot go around it or ignore it. When I’m in my head and feeling insecure it’s much harder to catch a wave compared to a confident day. This vulnerability as well as the confidence that I find in the ocean translates to my illustrations.

By only focussing on the pro’s and perfect pictures, we make the sport even more competitive. Surf for me is about play, fun and learning. We have to embrace the wipe-outs! Designing for REEF and to be able to walk in my own sandals is definitely a dream come true! Click here to order your own pair!
