Spurgeon's Playing Cards

Introducing the Spurgeon’s Playing Cards from Missional Wear.

A couple of years ago I was approached by the reformed outfitter Missional Wear to design a deck of playing cards with a Spurgeon theme. Charles Haddon Spurgeon (1834-1892) was probably the greatest and most influential preacher and minister of the Victorian era. He was nicknamed the »prince of preachers«, so I thought it would be fitting to give the deck a royal victorian vibe. Of course, this overall theme must be understood with a bit of humor, although the vision and the life and times of Spurgeon were pretty serious. He gave his life to the preaching of the gospel of Jesus Christ and this deck should resemble this vision.

The deck was designed back in 2021, and I thought it would never be released. Thankfully it was finally printed at the end of last year and is now ready to ship. I love how the tuck came out, but especially the line work and composition of the face cards is not to my current standards anymore. It was the first ever full custom deck I ever produced so I was really in the stage of being accustomed to the art of making playing cards.

The tuck box is premium quality with gold foil and embossing. It is surely a must have for the Spurgeon admirer out there and a great deck for any premium playing card collector. Let me know what you think about these cards.
