The Bikestrument
The Bikestrument was created for an interdisciplinary design class at Iowa State University where students were asked to create instruments for an installation. The installation took place in Ottumwa, IA, and each teams' work meant to revive the old abandoned Ottumwa theatre with light and sound. My team repurposed bikes and welded them together and added strings, a fret board and a bow that was moved by a pedal crank mechanism.
This project was a true testament to the power of how interdisciplinary work allows unique and never before seen creations to come to life.
