"Chokehold" for Phantom Jiu Jitsu

If you've ever tried to illustrate a Chokehold or a Rear Naked Choke, you'll know that it's difficult to make it look dynamic. Throw a semi-transparent ghost into the mix and the complexity is elevated. However, the ghostly transparency actually ended up being one of the things that really made this design stand apart. I especially loved how the chest tattoos are visible through the ghosts arms, as well as the tied belt.

To further the unique elements in this piece, Phantom asked that I add some Virginia and 90's imagery. To cater to this, I included the Boombox, skateboard and nunchucks as well as a "Virginia Is for Lovers" tag on the skateboard and a UVA-esque hat (but with Bo-staffs instead of the tightly guarded Crossed Sabers). I added a few last details like skulls to the ghost-babe's gowns, the Phantom Jiu Jitsu logo on the hat bill, and the scar on the Demon's face.

Though this design was conceptually very unexpected, I am nonetheless proud of how the final design came together. I love working designs within designs and this Illustration is chock-full of them.
