The restaurant was founded by a couple, Stanislav and Alla, who were born and raised in Moldova. After moving to Alaska, they decided to open their own restaurant, inspired by their love for each other and their shared love for the traditional Moldovan cuisine and culture. Together, they created a menu of traditional Moldovan dishes and wine and introduce visitors to Moldovan incredible culture.

Soba will take you to Moldova without leaving town.

Naming

The restaurant got its name from the heart of Moldovan culinary tradition – the Soba stove. In every Moldovan home, the Soba is the hearth where families gather, stories are shared, and the most delicious meals are prepared with love.

The logo represents the process of cooking at the Soba stove of the beloved traditional Moldovan dish - placinta. This combination represents the idea that all dishes are prepared with the same love and care that define Moldovan hospitality.
