Developed forwards from one of three design suggestions for a charity social media project providing fun characters that could be easily matched to audio extracts from interviews with prisoners diagnosed with widely understood mental health conditions only after going inside.

The design workflow here is modular. Facial elements are all tracked to the same head movement and can be swapped and combined to create near infinite array of characters.

The design approach they went for, shown below, is significantly toned down from this, but applying the exact same principles.
