S1U3 Vaquita Mobile App

VAQUITA

Project: Vaquita ("Little Cow")

Role: UI/UX Designer

Vaquita is a mobile application aimed at providing fast food clients with an easy-to-use and straightforward ordering experience. The project was designed with a focus on minimizing friction for users, ensuring they can quickly access menus and place orders without unnecessary steps.
The goal of this project was to solve the common frustrations found in fast food mobile apps by removing barriers such as mandatory account creation and complex navigation.

Problem Statement

Many fast food mobile apps require users to create accounts before accessing menus or placing orders. This creates unnecessary friction for users who are often in a hurry or simply want to browse menu items. These additional steps can deter users from utilizing the app, ultimately reducing customer engagement and satisfaction.

Technologies Used

Design and Prototyping: FIGMA

Design Process

The design process started with understanding the core needs of fast food clients: quick and easy access to menu items and ordering options.

Wireframing and Prototyping:

The initial wireframes were created in Figma to map out the app’s structure and ensure a user-friendly experience. Prototypes were built to test key user flows and interactions.

Focus: The primary focus of the design was to highlight core options, such as viewing the menu and placing orders, directly on the home screen to minimize user effort.

Key Learnings and Reflections

Vaquita taught me the importance of prioritizing user convenience and accessibility in mobile app design. By simplifying the user journey and removing unnecessary barriers, I was able to create a more seamless experience.

A valuable lesson from this project is that reducing friction in user interactions can greatly enhance overall usability. Users appreciate direct access to the features they need without being forced into unnecessary steps.

Conclusion

Vaquita represents a step forward in my understanding of mobile app design. It highlights the importance of user-centric design decisions and how simplifying interactions can lead to more positive user experiences. This project solidified my approach to designing intuitive, efficient, and practical solutions for real-world problems.
