FitPlate: A Catering App Concept

The Idea

This project was one of my many assignments I had to do as part of a very interesting App Design class I had on faculty. Even though, at first, I wan't too open to the idea of app design - it being quite far from my usual style and workflow - I was surprised to truly enjoy the process, and ended up quite happy with the results.

This particular project was on the topic of food delivery apps. I had to research quite a bit, but as a foodie myself, I had a good idea of what I'd like to see in a food-oriented app. As opposed to the regular delivery service, I've realized I'd much rather work on an idea of a catering app; specifically one that holds the purpose of healthier eating habits. Since I myself have struggled with maintaining a balanced diet, and knowing many people who for many reasons do too (lack of motivation, time, or resources), I had this idea of an app that can take into account your specific needs, whether it be caloric, financial or even dietary-restrictive, and provide a completely personalized experience where the user could esentially make their own menu and have it delivered to their location.

In the app, I included possible food filters, recipes, user reviews and a planner for future days and weeks. In the user section, I implemented some essential health information that would be synced with other fitness apps, which follow common parameters such as caloric intake, macros, vitamins, sleep schedule, weight, workouts etc.

I ended up very happy that my project seemed like a complete idea, and, hopefully, like a belieavable app.

Resources and Programs

First of all, I would like to mention that for the entirety of the project I've exclusively used Figma. This is, again, something that was new to me; since I refused to use anything but Photoshop for years. But, I absolutely loved the program.

As for the used resources, the pictures of food were all taken from Pexels. The icons used were from a plugin called Icons8. The logo I've created myself using figma's vector tools.
