CopyCat

I’ve often seen – and experienced myself – work being shared without credit, copied, or passed off as original. Let’s do better. It’s okay to draw inspiration from others – that’s how creativity flows – but the magic happens when you make it your own, something authentic to you. Explore what excites, moves, or challenges you, and add your unique perspective. Originality is your superpower. The world doesn’t need another copy of someone else – so don’t be a copycat!

In this motion graphics project I illustrated a cat that duplicates itself, nervously glancing around to see if anyone is watching – yet bristling with anger if someone else dares to copy. The photocopy texture on top of the cat illustration, along with the wiggling, side-to-side motion of the copied cat parts, are designed to evoke the essence of copying. This theme is further reinforced by the soundscape, which I carefully synchronized with the typography animation.

Below, you’ll find my type explorations for this project, along with a playful pattern I created featuring my cat illustration.
