Life on Mars: A Mars Habitat Simulation Experience
Life on Mars
January 26 through 28, 2024, Space Foundation's Space Commerce Institute, in partnership with Nova Southeastern University’s Alan B. Levan | NSU Broward Center of Innovation, executed a three-day, in-person, experiential Mars habitat simulation called Life on Mars. Each day was represented by a Sol. Participants experienced Life on Mars and navigated through various exercises and challenges– including catastrophes, isolation, limited mobility, sub-par communications, the use of cargo item cards, and paired-team challenges – that directly impacted their thought processes, iterations of work, collaboration, and final design product. Life on Mars is one example of Space Commerce Institute’s specialized programming that was conceptualized and created entirely in-house.
