Mike Wazowski shirt design

I was commissioned by a client to create a shirt. The material I ended using was iron-on vinyl, so I wanted to simplify the colors of the character. First, I decided that the shirt would be green. This would mean I would not need green vinyl for the project.

I felt that the color black was necessary to add clear visibility of the character Mike Wazowski on the shirt. Grey was also needed for the character's claws. And white was needed for his teeth and eyes. I also used both white and black to add some lighting to the character, so he didn't look completely flat.

There was also a dilemma with Mike's eye. Usually his eye is a greenish blue color, so his eye can be depicted as blue or green on certain products. I decided to just go with a green eye, as it seemed wasteful to buy blue iron-on material just for the eye color.
