Jamo

Jamo

Brand identity concept for the public transportation system in L’Aquila, Italy.

“Jamo” means “let’s go” in L’Aquila’s dialect. I chose this name because the people from L’Aquila have a deep and steadfast connection to their land, traditions, and culture.

Currently, the city lacks a brand for its local public transportation system. With steady tourism growth—attracted by a rapidly developing environment and breathtaking landscapes—I thought it would be interesting to propose a brand.

The Jamo app

UI/UX concept for the Jamo app

The current app of the local transportation company, "AMA," appears messy, confusing, and unappealing. This is particularly concerning for a city heavily focused on tourism and aims to engage people of all age groups in a comprehensive experience.

Since bus transportation serves a diverse group of people daily, I wanted to design an interface that is accessible to everyone, regardless of age. My goal was to create a “cool” design to attract younger users while ensuring it remains easy to understand for a wide audience.

The current ticket purchasing process is overly complicated and confusing, so I redesigned it to make it more accessible for everyone. Additionally, to enhance the overall experience, I created themed tickets highlighting the landmarks, monuments, and products cherished by the people of L’Aquila. These tickets are collectible!

Track your ride

Hop-on and off

Currently, tracking buses during their routes is not feasible, which can lead to uncertainty for passengers. To address this issue and enhance the overall efficiency of public transportation, I developed an interactive screen that provides real-time updates on the status of their chosen bus. This screen displays important information such as the bus’s current location, estimated arrival times at upcoming stops, and any delays that may occur. Users can now make informed decisions about when and where to board or disembark, ultimately improving their commuting experience by reducing wait times and increasing convenience.

The Jamo app allows you to do even more!

The app allows tourists and locals to discover the latest hotspots, complete with reviews from other users. Additionally, the city of L’Aquila has struggled for years with parking issues. Non-residents often don’t know where the city parking areas are located. The app helps tourists and locals discover the latest hotspots, featuring reviews from other users. L’Aquila has faced parking challenges for years, with non-residents often unaware of where the city’s parking areas are located and unable to reserve a spot in advance. The Jamo app solves this by letting users identify and reserve the perfect parking spot!

The brand

Cool and fun!

But Jamo is also a brand. So I designed fun t-shirts and hoodies featuring some of the city’s most amusing local sayings. This makes it easier to connect people to the brand and help it go viral!
