Ark: Survival evolved UI redesign

Since the first time I played the game I have had ideas on how this game's UI could be improved. Here I present to you the in game HUD. I am going to be progressively adding redesigns of other UI sections of the game.

My thought process for the in-game HUD

My biggest hurdle with the HUD was that all the information regarding player status were all bunched up together. For me as most of them served different purposes, they had to be grouped and distinguished in a way that made more sense.

The level up pop up looked a little bold, especially if the player is expected to see it appear over and over again anytime a new level is reached. So, instead of a frequent pop up on the top of the screen I thought of a simple tab with a badge that would indicate the amount of levels the player needs to apply.

In my final design I grouped health and energy together and accentuated them with color to insist on their importance, grouped hunger and thirst on the other side as they mechanically work in the same way (deplete over time). The experience bar I put above the inventory and the inventory space capacity is signified on the sides of the toolbar. I also increased the contrast between the tools and the hotbar to make them pop a bit more in lighter environments.

That's it for me today. I'll finish up the other redesigns and add them here when they're ready. Until next time!
