Cleaning & Maintenance Services App (Case Study)

Role: UX/UI Designer

Objective: To design a user-friendly, visually appealing service management app that simplifies the process of requesting and managing services for businesses and individuals.

Problem Statement

Many businesses struggle to efficiently manage their service requests, leading to confusion, delays, and poor user experience. The goal was to create an intuitive platform that allows users to easily request, track, and manage various services (e.g., cleaning, assembly, painting).

Target Audience

  • Small to medium-sized businesses

  • • Professionals managing facility services

  • • Service providers needing a streamlined communication platform

❑ Design Process

Research & Insights

  • Through user interviews and competitive analysis, I identified key pain points:

    • • Complicated service request workflows

    • • Lack of transparency on service status

    • • Cluttered and outdated interfaces in similar apps

Information Architecture

  • A clear navigation structure was designed with key user flows in mind:

    • • Service Requests: Easy creation, categorization, and status tracking.

    • • Account Management: User-friendly sign-up and profile settings.

    • • Featured Services: Quick access to popular service categories.

Wireframing & Prototyping

  • Created low-fidelity wireframes to iterate on the layout, followed by interactive prototypes to gather feedback on usability.

UI Design

  • • Design Principles: Clean, modern, and functional.

  • • Color Palette: A balance of dark backgrounds and green highlights for a modern, approachable vibe.

  • • Typography: Consistent and legible.

  • • Icons & Illustrations: Custom icons and illustrations to enhance visual clarity and brand identity.

❖ Key Feature

Seamless Onboarding

  • • A clean sign-up flow with options for customers and service providers.

  • • Personalized experience with pre-filled company details.

Service Management Dashboard

  • Search & Browse: Find services quickly with a clear categorization system.

  • * Task Status: View service progress (e.g., "Work in Progress") with detailed information such as location, due date, and descriptions.

Task Creation

  • Guided flows to create a new task, including fields for:

    • • Task title and description

    • • Attachments (e.g., photos for better understanding)

    • • Location input

Visual Tracking

  • Use of cards and status indicators for organized tracking of multiple services.

✦ Design Decisions

Color Contrast: The green against a dark background enhances accessibility and visual focus.

  • Minimalist Layout: Reduced cognitive load with clean grids and sections.

  • Microinteractions: Subtle highlights, buttons, and states improve the overall user experience.

➤ Outcome

The result was a modern, efficient service management app that:

✓ Improved task organization and transparency

✓ Reduced friction in service requests and updates

✓ Enhanced user satisfaction with an intuitive UI
