Case Study IAP Mobile Dashboard
Overview
myASSURANCE is a mobile application developed based on the existing system for user to keep on track on any Assurance and Audit matters. On mobile app we had limited many functionality that only used to view overall data from its main dashboard.
Challenge
Before IAP Mobile Project hired a designer, a beta version had already been implemented. While the information architecture and user flow were functional, users still found the app difficult to use and unappealing. To address this, I conducted research interviews with our primary users and internal team to identify the pain points they were experiencing with the beta release.
Key Issue
The beta version was developed without considering the aesthetic-usability effect on the visual design. It suffered from poor UX, outdated design, and a lack of visual appeal. Additionally, the app displayed excessive information with little to no visual hierarchy, making it overwhelming and difficult for users to navigate.
Competitive Analysis
While the research findings helped me pinpoint the core problems, I sought inspiration before diving into solutions.
I explored data-tracking apps such as Google Analytics, and various mobile-friendly dashboard templates to understand how users interact with dashboard content on mobile. Additionally, I analyzed the article creation process and UX studies on platforms like Medium.
I discovered that implementing simple and intuitive UX, coupled with effective data visualization, could address many of the issues we were facing.
Hypothese and Design Solution
The next day, I revisited the key issues and prioritized them based on user needs. I then formulated potential solutions, including:
Reducing the number of clickable areas on the screen.
Highlighting mandatory fields for better visibility.
Establishing a clearer visual hierarchy by grouping related fields.
Addressing the lack of a formal design system for the IAP Mobile Dashboard, which extended to the web version. This required me to create standardized styling and consistent UI patterns to ensure coherence across platforms.
