Ramayana movie launch website
Desktop layout
At Runtime Solution, we had the incredible opportunity to design and develop the landing page for the promotional website of the movie Ramayana, which was set to be re-released in Indian cinemas. After presenting two design options, we successfully aligned with the client’s expectations. Following minor revisions, the design was approved, and we were ready to move into development. The process was deeply rewarding, allowing me to experiment with stunning animations and innovative design approaches, making this an invaluable experience despite the project being shelved due to unforeseen delays.

This mobile layout for the Ramayana website perfectly encapsulates the essence of the desktop design, offering a seamless and immersive experience tailored for mobile users. Every element, from the typography to the color palette and navigation structure, has been meticulously adapted to ensure visual harmony and functional efficiency on smaller screens. The design captures the grandeur and spiritual depth of the epic while prioritizing user accessibility and responsiveness, providing an enriched storytelling journey for users on the go.
Case Study
Designing the Landing Page for the Ramayana Promotional Website
Overview
At Runtime Solution, we had the exciting opportunity to design and develop the landing page for the promotional website of the movie Ramayana, which was set to be re-released in Indian cinemas. This project required us to craft a visually captivating and functional design that would resonate with audiences while effectively showcasing the grandeur of the epic story. Despite the project’s eventual cancellation due to the postponement of the movie’s release, the journey was an enriching learning experience that pushed the boundaries of creativity and design execution.
Client Requirements and Expectations
The client’s brief was clear: the landing page needed to convey the cultural and spiritual richness of the Ramayana while appealing to a broad audience, including modern moviegoers. They emphasized the importance of:
A mobile-first approach to ensure accessibility across devices.
Engaging visual elements that capture the essence of the epic.
Smooth animations to enhance user interaction and storytelling.
The Design Process
Conceptualization and Ideation
Our team started by brainstorming ideas that would seamlessly merge tradition with modern web aesthetics. We explored:
Rich, earthy color palettes inspired by Indian art and mythology.
Typography reminiscent of ancient scripts combined with contemporary fonts for readability.
Hero sections featuring dynamic illustrations of key Ramayana characters.
Creating the Designs
We developed two distinct design options for the client:
Traditional Elegance: Focused on rich visuals with intricate motifs and patterns inspired by Indian temple architecture.
Modern Minimalism: Highlighted bold imagery and clean layouts to make the story accessible to younger audiences.
Both options were presented to the client, and the second design resonated strongly with their expectations. After incorporating some minor feedback, the design was approved and prepared for development.
Animations and User Experience
The approved design incorporated subtle yet impactful animations to enhance user engagement, including:
Parallax scrolling effects to bring characters and scenes to life.
Hover animations on call-to-action buttons to guide user interaction.
Smooth transitions between sections for a cohesive storytelling experience.
This phase allowed me to experiment with advanced animation techniques, pushing the creative boundaries of my design skills.
Challenges and Outcomes
Challenges
While the project progressed smoothly from a design perspective, the unexpected postponement of the movie’s release led to the project being shelved. This was a disappointment, but it also highlighted the unpredictability of external factors in creative projects.
Positive Outcomes
Skill Enhancement: The project gave me the chance to refine my skills in animation and responsive web design.
Collaboration: It strengthened our team’s ability to deliver high-quality work under tight deadlines.
Portfolio Addition: Despite its cancellation, the project remains a strong testament to my ability to tackle complex design briefs and deliver creative solutions.
Conclusion
The design journey for the Ramayana promotional website was both challenging and rewarding. It reinforced the importance of adaptability and innovation in the face of unforeseen changes. Although the project didn’t reach the development phase, it remains a standout experience in my design career, showcasing my ability to blend creativity with functionality to meet client needs.
