Website design for children with special needs

Recently, I had the opportunity to get involved in a project close to my heart—designing a website for children with special needs. I am collaborating with academicians, pediatricians, caregivers, physiotherapists, and nutritionists to understand our users' needs and demands.

Here’s what we’ve decided so far:

  1. The entire website must be WCAG 2.1 compliant. This includes aspects like color contrast, font size, and alt text for images.

  2. The website needs to strike a balance between playfulness and efficiency. Parents should feel encouraged to explore the website without feeling overwhelmed by excessive features.

  3. We aim to build a habit for parents to log their child’s daily food intake and physical activities. Designing a reward system while keeping the process as frictionless as possible is a key success metric.

This is still a work in progress, but here’s a sneak peek!
