AI-Powered Mortgage Tool

A product uses AI to simplify mortgage loan verification while ensuring compliance with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac standards.

The challenge: to design an intuitive interface for underwriters accustomed to manual data entry in Excel. Building trust was essential, so I conducted user interviews, gathered feedback, and iterated the design. The goal was to create a best-in-class product that inspires confidence at first sight.

The result speaks for itself. The interface is simple yet highly functional, allowing users to verify AI results at various levels of detail. It’s completely new but still feels familiar. For instance, the Income Source Details section retained an Excel-like layout for familiarity while featuring enhanced aesthetics. Metrics highlight its success: only 5% of new users contacted support with questions.
