Alomos Design System - Tech eCommerce

For this e-commerce app, the task was to create first a design system in order to enable a shared experience, unify solutions and create cross-collaboration between various teams in the Cloud environment. Design system is the most important one because it helps to ensure consistency, efficiency, scalability, and create a consistent user experience.

Color is a critical part of any design system, but it can slip out of control easily. With a seemingly infinite number of hues and shades, variability from different color spaces, and various method of picking and sampling colors, it’s easy for me to end up with dozens of color values that are being used inconsistently.

By defining a color system I can ensure that I have a controlled palette of acceptable colors, consistent and proper usage, and also improve ease of maintenance. As a simple starting point, I start from the brand colors. That palette may heavily influence the swatches about what color that I gonna use.

Typography is one of the most important aspect of the design system to establish early on think of how much information we will communicate to user through type. There are many considerations when choosing typefaces, especially for use on-screen. Also I work cross-functionally with brand/marketing teams to accommodate brand's typefaces and determine how they'll fit into design system.
