Designing a New Dubai-based Interior Design Website

I was tasked with designing a new website for a Dubai-based interior design and architecture company. The goal was to create an online presence that showcased their high-end services and attracted luxury clients, including developers and residential owners.

Discovery & Client Goals

In the initial meeting, I gathered key insights about the client’s needs and objectives.

  • Target Audience: Luxury clients, developers, and high-end residential owners.

  • Goals: Increase brand visibility, showcase their portfolio, and generate leads.

  • Key Requests: A modern, clean design that highlights high-quality visuals.

UX & Design Process

Empathy Map: I created an Empathy Map to better understand the target audience’s needs, pain points, and goals. This map helped guide our design decisions to ensure the website would be user-centric.

  • Think & Feel: The target audience desires high-quality design and bespoke luxury services.

  • -----------------------

  • Hear: They want to stay informed about industry trends and competitor websites.

  • -----------------------

  • Say & Do: They need a platform to showcase their high-end projects, with an intuitive user interface.

  • -----------------------

  • Pain Points: Users often encounter confusing navigation or outdated design on competitors' websites.

  • -----------------------

  • Gain: A sleek, easy-to-navigate website that engages users while showcasing high-end services.

  • -----------------------

  • Wireframing: Due to time constraints, I quickly sketched hand-drawn wireframes for the homepage and about page, which were approved by the client.

  • -----------------------

  • Design System: A comprehensive Design System was developed, defining consistent UI elements

  • such as buttons, forms, and typography to ensure uniformity throughout the site.

  • -----------------------

  • Moodboard: I created a Moodboard to establish the design direction, incorporating luxury design

  • elements, color schemes, and textures that reflected the brand’s high-end aesthetic.

  • -----------------------

  • Color Scheme: I chose neutral tones with gold accents, which conveyed sophistication and a sense of luxury.

  • -----------------------

  • UI Design: The design focused on clean navigation, prominent portfolio display, and responsive layouts to ensure a seamless user experience across all devices.

Design Execution & Development

  • Mobile-first Approach: I adopted a mobile-first design approach, ensuring the website was optimized for smaller screens before scaling up to desktop views.

  • Collaboration with Development Team: The website is currently in the development phase, where I’m working closely with developers to implement the design accurately. Regular feedback sessions help to maintain the design integrity during development.

Challenges & Solutions

  • Tight Timeline: With a fast-paced schedule, efficient communication and quick decision-making helped streamline the design and approval process.

  • Limited Client Availability: Managing the client's limited availability meant maintaining quick feedback loops and ensuring the design stayed on track without prolonged delays.

Final Outcome (Coming Soon)

The website is in the final stages of development and will soon be ready for launch. The design is aligned with the client's expectations, and once live, the site will offer a user-friendly, elegant platform to showcase their work.

Tools Use

  • Figma (Wireframing & UI Design)

  • Adobe Photoshop (Imagery & Visual Elements)

Conclusion:

Despite the tight timeline, the final design aligns with the client’s vision and expectations. Once the website launches, it will offer an intuitive, engaging experience that attracts luxury clients and showcases their high-end services.
