Revisiting Bankroll IOS App

Helping Teens Build Great Financial Habits with Bankroll

.

Bankroll is a product I launched back in 2021, designed to help families teach teens about financial literacy and good spending habits through gamification and rewards. Over the holiday break, I revisited the app after receiving feedback from families who had used it, which inspired me to polish and refine the experience further.

Design with Purpose

At its core, Bankroll is about making financial education accessible, engaging, and fun. It combines Stanford design thinking principles with intuitive, user-first design. Here’s what makes it tick:

Gamified Goals: Teens can earn rewards for tasks like completing chores, getting good grades, or reaching savings milestones.

Progress Tracking: A clean dashboard helps users visualize their progress and keeps them motivated.

Family Leaderboards: A bit of friendly competition to bring families closer while fostering accountability.

The Holiday Glow-Up

Thanks to real-world user feedback, I was able to refine some areas:

Simplified Navigation: I streamlined the app flow to make it feel faster and more intuitive.

Polished Visuals: I refreshed the UI, updating typography, layouts, and interactions to reflect a more modern design aesthetic.

User Feedback Loops: Small but meaningful tweaks were made to reinforce positive behaviors and improve the overall experience.

What’s Next?

While I’ve been polishing some updates for Bankroll, I’m also low-key working on another fintech product (still under wraps) that I’m really excited about. If you’re curious, feel free to reach out—happy to share more when the time is right.

On another note, I’m building a community for serious design builders who are passionate about building exceptional products. If that resonates with you, let’s connect— Join the whatsapp community: https://chat.whatsapp.com/ERAHBkmuTyuBgjhfRAatjD

Excited to share this work and hear your thoughts! Feedback always makes us better.
